Amo l'acqua, prezioso elemento necessario alla vita umana ed alla pittura ad acquerello.
Nella pittura ad acquerello l'acqua  può tutto !!!

L'inizio... e la fine.

I minerali delle acque dove vivo, ricca di acque termali, famose per le loro benefiche qualità dai tempi degli antichi romani, esce dal mio rubinetto molto ricca di sali di calcio e di composti ferrosi.
Questi elementi modificano il colore e la sua purezza, aumentando granulazione ed opacità.
Uso acqua demineralizzata, un sacrificio in più che regala , senza cambiare nulla altro,miscele di colore più pulite e stesure più facili, quando i miei progetti sono impegnativi.

Una bottiglia di acqua demineralizzata,dotata di spruzzatore diluisce il colore con il suo getto, diminuendo l'uso del pennello al minimo.
Lavorare su grandi formati richiede grandi pennelli ma anche colore preparato, prima, in quantità.
Questi piccoli accorgimenti, suggeriti da vari autori e sperimentati da me negli ultimi tempi, hanno migliorato i miei  risultati senza sforzo, con la tecnica bagnato su bagnato e bagnato su asciutto.

These elements change the color and purity, increasing granulation and opacity.
Using demineralized water (a sacrifice that gives more, without changing anything else) color blends cleaner, washes are easier when my projects are challenging.
My spray bottle filled with  demineralized water dilutes colors, almost without using the brush.

Working on large format requires large brushes, but also a great amount of color prepared in advance ...
I tried, in my recent watercolors, these little tricks, suggested by various authors, improving easily my work, wet on dry and wet on wet.

RAG-TIME / ELOGIO DEGLI STRACCI

La vita va avanti, nonostante i problemi di Blogger.

Ho scattato una foto mettendo sul mio tavolo di lavoro alcuni materiali che saranno gli argomenti di qualche post, mentre aspetto il verdetto da Google.

Se dovrò rimettere a posto tutte le immagini dei miei post, è bene che mi prepari a scrivere qualcosa che sia un po' inconsueto e rilassante.

Dedico il primo articolo, all'elogio dello straccio. Mai più senza stracci!!!

Jan Kunz, in un libro, consiglia vivamente  di usare gli stracci di tessuto al posto della carta in rotoli e dei fazzolettini di  carta. Jan consiglia di lavare questi stracci, se non si vuole buttarli e scrive che usare gli stracci durante la pittura invece di  tovagliolini e rotoli  di  carta, migliora immediatamente la tecnica. Ho usato gli stracci per mantenere umida la carta dell'acquarello,ma non avevo mai pensato di usarla in questo modo. I miei grandi papaveri orientali  sono stati dipinti con l'aiuto degli stracci, durante la pittura, con risultati pratici che mi hanno sorpreso e per questo motivo scrivo questo post.

Trovare gli stracci bianchi di cotone sfibrato, non è stato semplice ma nemmeno troppo difficile.

In teoria avrei dovuto prendere una scatola da 10 chili, ma in pratica il mio rivenditore mi ha pesato

un chilo di stracci e mi ha evitato di rifornirmi quanto un carrozziere.

Questa stoffa non lascia  pelucchi, portando via con dolcezza il colore in un modo  che mi è sembrato magico. Il tessuto alleggerisce le lavature con delicatezza e sembra adattarsi alla mano integrando l'azione della pittura con l'asportazione di colore o l'asciugatura selettiva delle zone bagnate, diventando uno strumento di creatività.

Tenere uno straccio bagnato sotto la carta da acquarello,durante la pittura, prolunga il lavoro con le tecniche umide, mentre  gli stracci già macchiati, dopo i lavaggi sono molto utili per la manutenzione dei pennelli.

Il centro dei fiori è stato modellato con l'aiuto del tessuto. Il controllo di umidità della carta e colore è più facile sulla superficie delicata della carta liscia .

Durante il lavoro ci sono decine di momenti in cui usare gli stracci invece che la carta ha dato risultati più brillanti. Il colore degli acquerelli, se si usa il tessuto,non interagisce con gli ossidi di titanio con cui invece  è sbiancata la carta e rimane più puro.

Provare per credere anche solo con uno straccio bianco di cotone sfibrato dai lavaggi che avete già in casa. Io ho iniziato così e poi mi sono attrezzata meglio. La stoffa venduta per i carrozzieri è veramente ideale per la pittura.

 Anche le macchie hanno poesia, sono le tracce dei lavori già dipinti.

I dedicate the first item to the praise of the rag. Never paint without the rags!
Jan Kunz, in a book highly  recommended to use cloth rags instead of paper rolls and paper towels. Jan is recommended to wash these rags, if you do not want to throw them, and she writes that use rags during the painting instead of napkins and paper rolls, instantly improves the technique.
I used wet rags to keep the watercolor paper, but I never thought to use it in this way.
My big oriental poppies were painted with the help of rags, while painting with practical results that have surprised me, and for this reason I write this post.

Find the white cotton rags worn out, it was not easy but not too hard.
In theory I should take a box of 10 kilograms, but in practice the retailer has weighed a kilogram of rags and I avoided stock up rags as a garage owner.
This rags  touche the paper gently, taking away the color in a magical way. The fabric washes gently lightens and seems to fit the hand complementing the action of painting   removing selective color or drying of wet areas, becoming itself a tool of creativity.
Keep a wet cloth under the  watercolor paper extends time for wet techniques .
Already rags very  stained  ,after washing, are very useful for the maintenance of brushes.
While working there are many  times when using rags instead of paper towels gave the most brilliant results. The color does not interact with those titanium oxides with which the paper is bleached, for example.

DAY AFTER / Il GIORNO DOPO

Studiando un soggetto che mi piace accade che il risultato atteso... non si manifesti.

Il difetto è nella composizione che manca di qualcosa.

Ho portato a casa una piantina di Saint-Paulia perchè i fiori somigliavano a farfalle, con il contrasto bianco e viola,il tocco di giallo al centro...

Prime lavatura in giallo ocra.

Inizio a dipingere le viole ed avere ancora il soggetto davanti a me, sembra essere di aiuto.

Il lavoro è completato ma non rende il sentimento che io desideravo dipingere. Così il giorno dopo ho aperto il cassettino, dove pastelli acquarellabili e pastelli a cera stanno in disordine apparente, ma funzionale al mio modo di lavorare ...

Il mio cassettino è una emergency room per acquerelli da rianimare...

Chiaro contro scuro, freddo contro caldo, il ritmo che ho amato nei petali della violetta africana sembra guidare la mano.

Colori che non sono propri della pianta ma semplicemente scelti per la loro vibrazione (turchese, arancio, verde chiaro) sono aggiunti fino a completare il senso di una danza ottica.

Sometimes studying a subject that I like it happens that the expected outcome ... is not there.

The defect often is  in the composition that lacks something.
I brought home a plant of  Saint-Paulia, because the flowers looked like butterflies, with the contrast of white and purple , the touch of yellow in the center ...
First wash in yellow ocher.
Start to paint violets and still have flowers in front of me seems to be a good thing.

The work is completed but does not make the feeling that I wanted to paint. So, the day after, I opened the drawer where watercolor pastels and crayons are helter-skelter, but functional to the way I work ...
My drawer is an emergency room , from watercolors to rescue ...
Light against dark, warm against the cool, the pace that I loved in the petals of African violet seems to guide my hand .
Colors that are not typical of the plant, but simply chosen for their vibration (turquoise orange light green ) are added to complete the sense of optical dance.

POLLY BIRCHALL EASTER CHALLENGE 2014

E' già il secondo anno che la mia amica di blog e di facebook Polly Birchall dipinge non -stop nel week end di Pasqua. Quest'anno ha invitato i suoi amici  a suggerire i soggetti da dipingere.
Una sfida ancora più audace, perchè dipingere temi scelti da altri non è poi così semplice.

La mia versione delle Pecore Multicolori che Polly ha dipinto  su mia richiesta nella sfida di Pasqua 

Polly Birchall  ha una dote particolare per dipingere acquerelli ricchi di umorismo ed ironìa.
Osservare le sue opere mette allegrìa .
Ogni acquerello racconta una storia ed io spero che presto  voglia scrivere ed illustrare una storia
per la gioia di noi tutti.
Quest'anno però è stata introdotta una variante...Polly ha chiesto a chi ha seguito la sua sfida di Pasqua,con calma,di disegnare o dipingere la stessa immagine suggerita....

Il disegno è stato fatto con i materiali che vedete
(Neocolor wax,Neocolor watersoluble,Stabilo pen)

Ecco qui. Il mio contributo è un piccolo gioco,un acquerello disegnato con i pennarelli  Stabilo e colorato con Neocolor idrosolubili e Neocolor a cera,su carta  Schoeller con una texture che pare cotone morbido.
Dopo il colore ,con lo spruzzatore ho ben bagnato tutto facendo fondere i tratti dei pastelli idrosolubili.
Una idea molto facile e veloce che mi ha divertito come un gioco.

Il gioco insieme all'azione di dipingere credo sia  l'intento della sfida di Pasqua di Polly!
Grazie a Polly abbiamo passato il tempo a ricevere continue sorprese nel fine settimana di Pasqua...

It is the second year that my friend Polly Birchall paints non-stop over the weekend of Easter. This year she has invited her friends to suggest subjects to paint.
A challenge even more daring , why paint themes chosen by others is not so simple .

Each watercolor tells a story and I hope that soon she wants to write and illustrate a story to the delight of us all.
But this year she has introduced a second  variant ... Polly asked those who have followed her  challenge of Easter , calmly, to draw or paint the same picture suggested ....
Here it is mine. My contribution is a small game , a watercolor painted with STABILO pens , and colored with water-soluble NEOCOLOR , and NEOCOLOR wax ,on Schoeller paper with a texture that seems soft cotton .
After drawing with colors, with spray bottle  I wet all over , so melting water-soluble crayons .
A very quick and easy idea that I enjoyed as a game.

Io non ti vedo da 38 anni, MAMMA.

Non c'è un luogo dove ritrovarti.

Posso rivederti guardando in uno specchio,

posso rivederti nel sorriso di Valentina,

posso rivederti nel sorriso di Beatrice,
ed ora mentre Alice sorride.

Mi manchi.
E mi domando come diversa

avrebbe potuto essere la mia vita

se tu mi avessi accompagnata più a lungo.

E voglio ricordare il tuo nome,

MEETING / INCONTRI

"Lavorare stanca" è il titolo del primo libro di Cesare Pavese.
Una frase che è vera anche per me.
Mi sono stancata nelle ore della mostra, perchè non sono abituata a stare in piedi a lungo e nemmeno ad incontrare tante persone.
Quando la vita diventa più intensa,  risento della mia salute un poco instabile.

Ho finito questo acquerello"Yin & Yang Lilium" il giorno prima della mostra.

 Così ho impiegato più tempo a raccogliere le idee ed a scrivere questo post.
Ringrazio per il pensiero  tutte le persone che hanno pensato che la mostra fosse dentro il famoso Castello di SanGaudenzio, ma la mostra si è svolta nel Centro Civico del paese nell'ambito della festa patronale (si leggeva chiaramente nella locandina).

Il rinfresco all'inizio ed alla fine della mostra è stato offerto dalla Municipalità con grande generosità per ringraziare l'Associazione di avere risposto all'invito e creare insieme ai cittadini un momento di festa. Una bella musica ha fatto sempre da colonna sonora rendendo ancora più accogliente il luogo.
Se la mostra fosse durata ancora un poco avremmo conosciuto tutto il paese, persona per persona, anche di nome. Venerdì 2 maggio sono venuti i bambini della scuola materna  e delle scuole elementari. Le maestre ci hanno invitato a parlare della pittura e della diversità delle tecniche in mostra.

La cosa carina è che ,in seguito,i bambini hanno insistito per portare a vedere i quadri  tutti e due i genitori,i nonni e gli zii. Una bambina,in particolare,Chiara(9 anni), ha spiegato parola per parola, che cosa avevamo detto a proposito della pittura ad acquerello e di quella ad olio facendo da Cicerone a sua mamma.Tutti a scuola dipingono con le tempere...le maestre hanno spiegato che usate con poca acqua le tempere possono essere simili alla pittura ad olio e diluite sono simili agli acquerelli...Così erano veramente felici di sapere di essere ... già pittori!

L'acquerello, ed in particolare quello di grande formato, che io ho scelto perchè sui cavalletti non scomparisse visivamente, vicino ai lavori dipinti su tela, ha destato grande curiosità. Ho dei seguitori sul territorio che non perdono le mie mostre e si ricordano  quali acquerelli  hanno già visto ed apprezzano le novità. Mi sono state fatte domande tecniche di tutti i tipi perchè per molti l'acquerello è un incontro ma anche una battaglia con l'acqua ed il colore...Mi sono state fatte domande sul rifornimento dei materiali che in effetti non sono così facili da trovare.

Gli incontri sono stati fruttuosi anche da altri punti di vista e quindi sono contenta ...anzi poichè ho esordito con "lavorare stanca"....posso concludere con un altro modo di dire...sono"stanca ma felice".

"Work fatigues  " is the title of the first book of Cesare Pavese .
A sentence that is true for me too.I got tired in the hours of the show, because I'm not used to stand for a long time and even to meet so many people .
As life becomes more intense I  feel the effects of  my health a little unstable.
So I took more time to collect my thoughts and write this post.
Thank you for thinking the show was inside the famous Castle of SanGaudenzio , but the exhibition was held, as part of the country's patron saint's day in the Civic Center (as wrote clearly in the poster).

Refreshments at the beginning and at the end of the exhibition was generously provided by the Municipality to thank the Association have responded to the invitation and create together citizens a time of celebration . A beautiful  music, always, made this Center so cozy. .
If the show lasted a little longer ....we would have known all people in Cervesina, person to person, even by name. Friday the kindergarteners  and elementary schools came to civic Center.
The teachers invited us to talk about the painting and the diversity of techniques on display.
The nice thing is that, as a result, children returned to see the paintings with both parents , grandparents  cousins and uncles...
A little girl, Chiara, (9 years old ) said, word to word, what she heard about the watercolor  and oil painting, acting as a guide to her mom.
At school the children paint with tempera ... the teachers explained that when they used tempera with a few water, tempera may be similar to oil painting and while dilute with more water are watercolors similar... So they were really happy to know that, they are... already painters !

I choose watercolor large format because, on the trestles, not disappear, visually close to the works painted on canvas. This size  has aroused great curiosity.
I have some followers in the area that following my group exhibitions and remembering what they have seen, now appreciate my new watercolors.
Technical questions of all types for many because watercolor is a meeting but also a battle with the water and the color for many people.
A lot of  questions about the supply of the materials that are in fact not so easy to find .

The meetings were fruitful also from other points of view and so I am glad.
I started with words as " work  fatigues" .... I can conclude with another way of saying ... I'm  a bit " tired but happy."
