LIGHT & COLORS in CERVESINA / LUCI & COLORI a CERVESINA

Sono in preparativi per la mostra a Cervesina, un paese vicino a Voghera e caro a molti perchè nel Castello di San Gaudenzio, proprio qui, si celebrano feste di  matrimonio  indimenticabili...

Ho cercato di dipingere qualcosa sur-le-motif ma infine ho deciso di partecipare con i lavori che amo e che sento di più, i fiori.

I miei compagni di associazione, che amano dipingere paesaggi porteranno dipinti che rispecchiano il paese che ci  ha invitato e ci  ospita per i  primi quattro  giorni di maggio.

Partecipare ad una mostra con un gruppo di pittori locali è sempre una attività festosa.

I vernissage, preparati da noi oppure offerti dalle municipalità, sono ricchi dei prodotti tipici, come i vini dell'Oltrepò Pavese e i salumi di Varzi. Qui avremo due vernissage, uno di saluto ed uno di commiato...Che bello!!!

Trovarsi tra amici ed incontrare le persone (tra cui molti altri pittori) con le loro reazioni sempre così originali e sorprendenti, è una bella festa dove insieme a me porto le mie creazioni predilette.

Un momento delicato quello della scelta delle opere, che visivamente devono richiamarsi ma anche creare un giusto contrasto.

Da diversi giorni questo è un argomento di piacevole conversazione con mio marito Danilo.

Lui fa la parte dell'osservatore e, proprio come me, ha le sue preferenze.

Poichè la mostra sarà allestita su cavalletti, la scelta è caduta su lavori di formato grande.

Quante cose sto imparando mettendo in mostra il mio lavoro sui problemi della presentazione.
Come è bello essere una pittrice che vive tra campagne e vigneti quando è ora di vernissage !

I am busy for an exhibition in Cervesina, a place near Voghera, so dear to many who live here, because in the San Gaudenzio Castle, often they attended unforgettable weddings ...

I tried to paint something sur-le-motif, but finally I decided to show flowers paintings, that I love and feel more.
Other members of the Circle, who paint landscapes, bring paintings that reflect the country, such as the municipality wished that we invited and hosted the first four days of May.

Participate in a group of local artists is always a joyful activity.
The vernissage, prepared by us or offered by municipalities, are rich in local products, such as the Oltrepò Pavese wines and salami of Varzi.
At Cervesina we will have two vernissage, one for greeting and one for say goodbye ... How nice!
Being among friends and meet people (including many other artists) with their reactions always so original and amazing, is a lovely time.

The choice of watercolors has been a great topic of conversation between me and Danilo, my husband.
He plays the part of the observer and then, just like me, has his own preferences.
As the exhibition will be staged on trestles, the choice fell on larger paintings.
How many things I'm learning by showcasing my work about presentation problems.
How beautiful be a painter who lives among countryside and vineyards, when it's vernissage time !

Questa settimana ho lavorato ancora con i miei papaveri. Un lavoro sciolto, nato dall'immaginazione, sulla base dell'ultima esperienza.
Qui larghe pennellate spruzzi sgocciolature e colore a piene mani... non mi sono fatta mancare nulla di quella improvvisazione felice che accompagna l'acquerello.
Ho attraversato un passaggio difficile della mia vita, con i colori dell'energia nelle mani.
Rosso, magenta, giallo, blu oltremare, viola ...ho usato pennelli, spugne, stracci di stoffa e dita.

Da lunedì a sabato questi papaveri orientali sono stati un buon oppiaceo per l'ansia e alla fine un inno alla gioia della vita.
Nessuno sa cosa ci portiamo dentro davvero finchè le fibre ottiche non arrivano a scattare la magica fotografia che dice...tutto è come deve essere! Sano!!!
Guardando i miei fiori penso " Danilo ed io" nel vento, nella luce. Come fiori viviamo esposti alle intemperie un lungo attimo sospeso dentro...il nulla o l'eternità.
Voglio sperare nell'eternità.
E' Pasqua, con questa speranza, faccio a tutti voi , compagni di vita e di pittura, i miei auguri più affettuosi.

This week I worked again with my poppies. A loose work, born of imagination, based on the last experience .
Here broad brushstrokes and color splashes, drips, with both hands ...
I have all  gestures  of  happy watercolor improvisation.
I went through a difficult transition in my life, with the colors of the energy in the hands .
Reds , magenta, yellow, blue ultramarine, violet ... I used brushes and sponges, rags of cloth, fingers.

From Monday to Saturday these oriental poppies were a good opiate for anxiety and at least , a hymn to the joy of life.

No one really knows what we carry inside until the optical fibers can not quite capture the magic photograph that says ... everything is as it should be ! Healthy !
Watching my flowers I think, " Danilo and I" in the wind , in the light. We live as flowers exposed to weather, to wind  a long moment suspended...in nothingness ... or eternity.
I hope in eternity.
It is  Easter with this hope, I do all of you, fellow life and painting , my warm  greetings .

RED IMMERSION FINAL / FINE DI UN BAGNO NEL ROSSO

E' sempre difficile riprendere un lavoro interrotto da qualche tempo, per completarlo.
I miei papaveri orientali mancavano di qualcosa per poter essere considerati finiti, ma non è stato facile capire come fare.
La settimana passata ho portato a termine questo compito.

Sono pronta a riprendere il soggetto, consapevole delle ulteriori possibilità che questa immagine offre per altri acquerelli, prendendo nota delle difficoltà incontrate durante il mio ... bagno nel rosso.
Dipingerò i papaveri orientali con l'aiuto di tecniche più sciolte, mantenendo il controllo dei bordi netti con la mascheratura. Qui non ho usato gomma ma ho dipinto in negativo il centro di ogni fiore lasciando trasparire il bianco della carta...con un po' di fantasìa.

It 's always difficult to resume an interrupted job after some time, to complete it.
My oriental poppies lacked something to be considered finished, but it was not easy to understand how to do.

Now I'm ready to bring out the subject more aware of the possibility that this offers, taking note of my difficulties.
I'll paint the oriental poppies, with watercolor wet on wet techniques, looser, while maintaining control of the edges with masking. Here, I did not use masking fluid, I painted the center of each flower in negative, leaving the white of the paper to shine through .... with a bit of fantasy.

PEACEFUL LAND / LUOGHI TRANQUILLI

Questa settimana ho tentato di dipingere un paesaggio ma sono inciampata nel problema della foto di riferimento.
Ho provato ad immaginare la tranquilla atmosfera delle lanche nella foschia nella campagna intorno casa e questo è il risultato del mio studio, ma non richiama certo il mese di maggio e la luce festosa della primavera inoltrata.

Sono stata invitata ad una mostra e dovrei portare un paesaggio in relazione con il luogo, proprio nel mese di maggio.

Le foto che ho potuto scattare, fino ad ora, non sono molto incoraggianti.
Interessanti ma non vivaci come piace a me.
Foschìa, primavera in ritardo, argini di fiumi appena devastati da piogge prolungate.

Ho provato a guardare senza troppa fortuna, nei siti che mettono foto a disposizione per essere dipinte.

Infine ho esaminato le foto dei miei archivi.
Mi piace guardare le foto che sono piene dei miei ricordi e delle mie emozioni, ecco perchè amo dipingere dalle mie immagini.

Pomeriggio di una bella giornata nella pianura, attraversata dal fiume Po, dal fiume Ticino, dal torrente Staffora, da molte risaie... una foschia sempre presente tranne nei giorni di vento.

Domenica mattina, poco fuori da un centro commerciale, ho trovato almeno un campo fiorito.
Forse ci sono belle novità in arrivo...aspetto un cielo azzurro con nuvole bianche , quando  le distese della pianura rivelano all'obiettivo fotografico, senza foschìa, la loro straordinaria colorata bellezza, dall'alba al tramonto.

This week I tried to paint a landscape, but I stumbled into the problem of the reference photo.
I tried to imagine the peaceful atmosphere of the water  in the countryside around my home so  this is the result of my study, but it certainly does not represent the month of May and the bright light of spring.

I was invited to a show and I should bring a landscape in connection with the place , just in the month of May ..
The pictures I could take, at least, are not very encouraging. Interesting but not lively as I like.
Misty days, late spring, banks of rivers just devastated by prolonged rains .
I tried to look at the sites that provide photos to be painted without much luck .

I fiori di colza e la fattoria nella pianura di Montebello. Questo luogo pacifico è stato sede di sanguinose  battaglie nella prima metà del 1800 tanto che il nome per esteso è "Montebello della battaglia".
The rapeseed flowers and farm in the plain of Montebello. This peaceful place has been the site of bloody battles in the first half of 1800, so that the full name is "Montebello of Battle."

I looked at the pictures of my archives.
I love looking at the pictures that are full of my memories and my emotions , which is why they are so unwilling to paint the pictures of others. New start for next week wit new reference photos.
Sunday morning just outside a shopping center I found, at least, a flowery field .
Maybe there is good news coming ... I'm waiting for  a blue sky with white clouds, when the plain reveals in my  camera, its extraordinary colorful beauty , from sunrise to sunset.

WAX ON WATERCOLOR / CERA SU ACQUERELLO

Uno dei motivi più interessanti  di scrivere il blog  è il rapporto che si crea con gli altri blogger.

Un'empatia legata all'amore di creare con le proprie mani ed il desiderio di raccontare la propria esperienza, unisce  persone, anche molto  lontane le une dalle altre, davvero in un momento.
Pochi giorni fa ho ammirato uno still life di Julie Ford Oliver e da lei ho appreso che gli acquerelli (dipinti su alcune superfici) possono essere protetti con cera a freddo.
Sono andata a comprare la cera a freddo ma ne ho trovato  solo un tipo ( Maimeri) dal fornitore più vicino a casa.
Ero ansiosa di provare .... ho avuto l'ispirazione di  fare un rapido acquerello da una  mia foto di anemoni, di qualche tempo fa.
Detto e fatto, i miei anemoni sono in fiore su un cartone preparato (tempo fa) con un fondo acrilico  indicato anche  per acquerello (Absorbent Ground Golden).

Dopo aver  asciugato l'acquerello (con asciugacapelli) prendo il coraggio di  coprire il lavoro con la  cera riscaldata (sempre con un asciugacapelli) utilizzando un pennello sintetico. Vedo che il colore non cola  e non reagisce con l'acqua ragia minerale presente nella cera.

Osservo le irregolarità di distribuzione e con un pennello da stencil,  stendo  meglio la cera, in modo uniforme. La texture che si vede è dovuta a come io ho dipinto  il fondo acrilico, non alla cera.

One of the reasons for writing the blog more interesting is the relationship that you create with other bloggers.
Empathy linked to love to create with their own hands and the desire to share their experiences, unites people, even very distant from each other, really in a moment.

A few days ago I admired the work of Julie Ford Oliver and I learned from her that the watercolors (paintings on certain surfaces ) can be coated with wax .

I went to buy cold wax and I have found only one type, Maimeri, from the supplier closest to my house. I was eager to try .... so I was inspired to do a quick watercolor from my photo of anemones.
Said and done, my anemones are in bloom on a cardboard prepared ,some time ago, with  acrylic Absorbent Ground  Golden, suitable  for watercolor.

My photo reference. After well dry all (with the hairdryer ) I take courage to cover the work with wax warmed (always with a hairdryer ) using a synthetic brush. I see that the color does not run and does not react .I observe the irregularities of distribution and with a brush from the stencil , I stretch better the wax , in a uniform manner . The texture that you see in the watercolor  is due to the acrylic base coat, not to wax

L'arte che è stata prima di noi, come l'arte che è ora, mentre stiamo vivendo, influenza il nostro modo di esprimere le cose, al punto che è un grande sforzo riuscire a pensare con la propria testa e con le proprie mani.
Estrapolare la propria realtà da tutte le realtà che ci raggiungono ogni giorno, è come cercare di distinguere la voce di qualcuno tra la folla. Chi sono io?
A volte pare di aver capito e poi tutto si perde...un nuovo libro, un nuovo mezzo da sperimentare e tutto viene rimesso in discussione.
Anche la grande quantità di immagini che arrivano via computer danno un senso di ebbrezza... vorrei essere brava come questo, anzi brava come quest'altro...

Ora che tante cose possono essere fatte, che cosa era che io volevo fare?
Sono così belli tutti i lavori che vedo passare sotto gli occhi, così affascinanti tutte le tecniche.
Solo provare mi darà la risposta... così consolo me stessa in questo cammino di sperimentazione e studio e mi convinco che non sto perdendo il mio tempo, provando tecniche nuove per trovare la mia strada creativa.

These statements are part of a common feeling .
The art that has been before us, as the art is now , while we live, influence our way of expressing things , to the point that it is a great effort to be able to try to think for themselves and with their own hands.

Extrapolate their own reality from all the others that come to us every day is like trying to distinguish the voice of someone in the crowd . Who am I?
Sometimes it seems that you understand and then everything is lost ... a new book, a new way to experience and everything is called into question.
Even the large amount of images that arrive in the computer give a sense of thrill ... I want to be as good as this , indeed as good as this one ...
Now that so many things can be done , what it was that I wanted to do ?
They are so beautiful that I see all the jobs go under the eyes, so charming all the techniques .
Just trying , I will have the answer ... so I consoled myself in this journey of experimentation and study , and I am convinced that I am not wasting my time , trying new techniques to find my creative path.

THE DARK SIDE/ IL LATO SCURO

Non so bene per quale motivo ogni volta che inizio a dipingere con qualcosa che non sia acquerello, mi trovo a dipingere con tanto blu e con tinte scure.
C'è un lato scuro in ognuno di noi ed il mio  viene fuori quando prendo in mano gli acrilici o dipingo con tecniche miste.

Il mio lavoro con i Lilium notturni è arrivato ora a questo stadio....

Il mio primo quadro su tela , dipinto ad olio quando avevo 14 anni, rappresentava una donna in blu,con capelli neri ...
Già allora questa tendenza era presente, mentre  i miei lavori a tempera (usavamo questo materiale a scuola) erano coloratissimi.

I do not know why every time I start to paint with something other than watercolor, I find myself with a lot of blue paint and dark colors.
There is a dark side in all of us and my comes out when I pick up the paint with acrylics or mixed media.

My first painting on canvas, oil painting when I was 14 years old, was a woman dressed in blue, with hair blacks ...
Even then, this trend was present with oil colors that I used for passion, while my work in tempera (we used this material in school) were colorful.
